Revisiting Keurig

Years ago, I wrote a post that was overwhelmingly negative torwards Keurigs. Most Keurig machines tend to be overpriced, especially if they are standalone units that do nothing but take K-Cups. The concept of K-Cups had already been quite negative a few years back, as they contributed to unnecessary waste. But what about now? What has changed? I’ve mentioned reusable K-Cups, which are devices that let you use your own coffee grounds to use in a K-Cup format. Standalone Keurig machines can be quite affordable, and are simple to use and clean. In recent years, K-Cups are also becoming easier to recycle. Also, many K-Cup bundles (which are readily available at many stores these days) can easily go for $0.33 per cup, which justifies itself over going to a coffee shop to grab a quick fix of caffeine. Finally, our “Keurig” is built into a Primo water dispenser, giving K-Cups instant access to hot filtered water.
