Smart Coffee?

Almost every appliance imaginable has a smart counterpart out there in the world, be it a smart curtain/blind device that closes/open curtains/blinds from an app, or a smart refrigerator that keeps tracks of what’s in it and ordering new groceries if need-be. So of course, there’s also smart coffee appliances. For the average joe, coffee makers are good not being smart, but for those who require their coffee (espresso, pour-over) to be made a certain way, smart coffee appliances will appreciate every nuance. Taking a look at this ridiculously priced espresso machine (a few thousand dollars), one can see just how sophisticated it is, with pressure, temperature, and flow profiling and several sensors for making the perfect espresso for whomever.

Good thing I just am okay with almost any coffee, espresso or not, as long as it isn’t awful. Then there’s more “basic” smart coffee makers, which stick with simple features like profiles and customizations, and the ability to automate or use it via smart assistants like Alexa. These appliances range from single serve (Keurig’s BrewID, etc.) to drip coffee makers, and allow for easily adjusting brew strength, with slower water flow making for a stronger brew. One day, I might start my morning by shouting “Hey Google, make my morning brew”.
